The workplace is embracing diversity. It can be observed in equality being offered in employment opportunities irrespective of the race, sex or religion. It has two potential reasons. The first reason is the government regulations that strictly prevent discrimination. For example, it is the title VII of the civil rights act of 1964 in the USA that makes companies not to discriminate among candidates. It naturally enhances the diversity at the workplace. The second reason behind promoting diversity is the realization of the significance of innovation and creativity as well strong values within the organizational culture. A diversified workforce brings different ideas and problem solving skills that drive the organization ahead. Besides, the amalgamation of different cultural values helps in building a strong organizational culture that is unique and cohesive in nature. It makes a prosperous and thriving organization. such initiatives can be observed in companies like Google, Microsoft and other innovation driven companies.
If I become a leader, I will promote diversity with following initiatives:
1. Employing people with different cultural background who are good to bring in creativity
2. Focus on people with different ethnicity to get the best of them
3. Balance the gender inequality among the workforce
4. Building a safe and conducive work environment for women
5. Complete abolition of stereotype culture that prohibits diversity
