Background

Civil Rights movement have been a frequent feature in US as major segment of the population ,particularly African Americans, women and men without have not been given full citizenship rights in American Republic.It began with isolated small scale protests and ultimately resulting in the emergence of new, more militant movements, leaders and organizations.

Achievements

The most important achievements of African-American Civil Rights Movements have been the constitutional amendments after Civil-wars that abolished slavery, and established the citizenship status of blacks. Few judicial decisions which which were implemented after these amendments are Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka decision of 1954, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. These changes greatly affected the opportunities available to women, non-black minorities, disabled individuals and other victims of discrimination.

Several laws were passed as a result of Civil Rights War which ensured equality an d equal opportunity for all citizens in American Republic :

Civil Rights Act of 1964 : It oulawed discrimination in all public accommodations. It prohibits race,color and nationalorigin discrimination.

Title IX of Education Amendments of 1972 : prohibits sexdiscrimination

Section 504 of the rehabilitation Act of 1973 : prohibits disability discrimination

Age discrimination Act of 1975 :prohibits age discrimination.

As a result of this, education level, job opportunities, and economy upliftment took place in American Republic.
