What is rejection-then-retreat or door in the face technique

Answer:

Door in the face technique is mainly used in social psycology and is a compliance method. The two persons considered are persuader and respondent.

The persuader will try to convince the respondent to comply by makinga large request that the respondent will be most likely not accept and slam a door on the persuader’s face . The respondent will most likely to agree to a second request that s quite reasonable. The probability of selecting this request is more likely when it is offered as asecond request than if the request is made in isolation.
